Part 2: The Lyceum in the Light of Christ

United to Christ by our Baptism into His Church, we are given to share in the very life of the Trinity. We have all received this gift, but we must foster it by prayer and work. This is the reason we were created, this is our final end; to know, love, and serve God in this world and be happy with Him in the next. To set our students on the path to sure knowledge, and to help them direct their efforts to their final end, The Lyceum offers the Theology curriculum and the daily life of prayer.

Theology at the Lyceum includes the study of Holy Scripture, The Creed, The Ten Commandments, The Sacraments, Prayer, and Apologetics. Liberally educated Catholics should encounter Christ in Scripture and Tradition as mediated by the Holy Spirit through the magisterium of the Catholic Church to a degree appropriate to their age, and be able to defend this faith to others.

By offering prayer in the mornings, at the beginning and end of each class, and especially at regular Mass, The Lyceum fosters the increase of moral virtue by daily practice, and the opportunity to receive sanctifying grace through the Sacraments. By both prayer and study, The Lyceum offers students a true education as stated by the Church:

Since education consists in preparing man for what he must be and what he must do here below, in order to attain the sublime end for which he was created, it is clear that there can be no true education which is not wholly directed to man's last end.
- Pope Pius XI, On Christian Education
