Meet our new Headmaster

The Lyceum is pleased to announce the appointment of respected educator and administrator Luke Macik as Headmaster as of July 1, 2009.

Mr. Macik served most recently as Vice-President for Administration at Wyoming Catholic College, one of the most respected of a new generation of authentically Catholic liberal arts colleges. He is a 1987 graduate of Thomas Aquinas College, where he also served as Assistant Director of Admissions from 1987 to 1990. During this time he co-led the sophomore seminar in which students Luke Macik,read and discussed works by Virgil, Plutarch, St. Augustine, Boethius, Dante, Chaucer, and St. Thomas Aquinas.

Mr. Macik received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1993. In 1995, he became a partner in the law firm of Mason, Isaacson, and Macik, PA, in Gallup, New Mexico where he specialized in Indian Law and served as the insurance defense counsel for the Navajo Nation. He is also admitted to the bar in Colorado, Illinois, Wyoming, Navajo Nation, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has taught undergraduate law classes at the University of New Mexico Gallup campus and has taught numerous legal seminars.

Mr. Macik serves as a board member of the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education, which “exists to give Catholic educators a clear understanding of the riches of authentic Catholic education…and to help them implement the Church’s vision in their institutions.” Throughout his career he has been involved in leading and organizing Great Books reading groups with his peers.

He is the father of nine children and has been actively involved in home schooling his children with his wife, Lisa. Over the years, he has also organized many youth retreats, talks, and has coached numerous youth sports teams.

“Luke Macik’s outstanding personal leadership qualities and deep commitment to the Faith will combine to help him lead The Lyceum to the next level. The parents, faculty, and the Northeast Ohio community are very happy to welcome him to the area,” said Todd Montazzoli, Lyceum Board President.
